From inside front cover: Nicholas Milestone, a young reporter on a provincial newspaper, has attracted the notice of Patrick, a man of means and influence. He introduces Nicholas into the world of smart Bohemia in London ... In such a milieu Nicholas is not at all at ease and in trying to adapt himself finds that his conscience is in conflict with his love of money. He cannot continue to enjoy the luxurious existence to which he has been introduced unless he surrenders his will entirely to Patrick's. Before Nicholas fully realizes the dilemma with which he is confronted he has had a number of enlightening experiences.
