The King Maker is a crime thriller with elements of intrigue and romance. It begins with the reader being introduced to an American pilot named Steve McKenna. Steve realizes that he is being used as a courier for a credit card fraud ring. The packages he has been transporting for Argyle Industries from Northampton, Massachusetts to Faversham, England do not contain what he believes they do. He discovers he has been smuggling stolen credit cards to Faversham Airport for Argyle Industries and tries to contact the one person in England who can help him, Cullen Danes, an investigator for the British Aviation Ministry. When Steve is found dead at Faversham Airport, Cullen is compelled to find out who killed his friend and clear Steve of the charges of being a member of the crime ring. Cullen’s investigation takes him to America where the crime ring catches up to him. He is about to suffer the same fate as his friend when a woman whom he just met, Nina Holt, interrupts the crime ring’s plans and rescues Cullen. Together, Nina and Cullen not only uncover Steve’s killer but also vulnerabilities they’ve kept guarded allowing their romance to blossom. It’s a story that will keep readers guessing who is the King Maker, the one person who puts somebody in a position of power namely the leader of the crime ring.
