T.p. and text printed within thin black rule border.
Colour wood-engraved plates are with imprint: "Published by Smith, Elder & Co. 65, Cornhill, London.". Plates are with title captions and are unsigned.
Plates are colour wood engravings produced using the "Baxter Process", with areas and lines that are printed with an intaglio metal plate.
According to Ruari McLean, the colour wood engraved plates were printed by Kronheim. Cf. His notes at Massey College Library.
