Noteworthy as the first published biography of former Louisiana Governor and Senator Huey P. Long, writer and journalist John K. Fineran self-published this scathing 'report' of Huey Long's pre-gubernatorial misdeeds, his low moral character, and dictatorial aspirations.

Edition Notes

Louisiana's Tinpot Napoleon is an exact reprint of the text from John Kingston Fineran's first and only printing, which he self-published and released in 1932. Long became infuriated due to the book's scathing criticisms and dictatorial accusations; while he transitioned from Baton Rouge to Washington, D.C. at the time, one of Long's supporters released a second (and much more favorable) biography of the Kingfish. In 1935, Long wrote his own autobiography (Every Man a King), perhaps a response to other biographies and personal analyses initiated after Fineran released this first rebuke.

Due to the book's significance in Louisiana history and yet remaining elusive and difficult to obtain by some scholars, researchers, and historians due to its rarity, D'Arbonne Press chose to re-release The Career of a Tinpot Napoleon, guising the new print as the book's 'Heritage Edition' under the altered title, Louisiana's Tinpot Napoleon: The First Biography of Huey P. Long.

While the text from Fineran's original edition is faithfully retained, the Heritage Edition has included an historical preface, detailed footnotes, an appendix, and a full index.
