"These songs were collected by an anonymous Monsieur and ornamented by Hotteterre ... These arrangements are valuable examples of the French style of ornamentation of the late 17th century, especially the so-called double (ornamented variation)"--Pref.

Originally principally for voice and continuo.

Figured bass realized for keyboard instrument.

Score serves as keyboard instrument part; parts for flute and bass instrument (cello or viola da gamba).
