Science fiction novel, fourth and last of the Starfarers series. The previous books are Starfarers, Transition and Metaphase.

The crew of the Starfarer must decide, on the behalf of Earth, whether to join the interstellar Civilization of the aliens or risk being stranded in space. Although the aliens are awesome, this is a character-driven novel concerned with politics rather than a space adventure.
