The sequel to Uncertain Paradise: 1973, this book picks up the story of the Isle of St. Margaret's in July of 1973 and takes it to the end of the year. Now independent, the new nation's rangers capture, and with American help destroy, a secret base constructed by Cuba on the new nation's south coast. The base was manufacturing the deadly genocidal gas "Albatross Two". While on the scene, the Rangers capture the Communist guerilla commander for the entire Sedona [southern] region. He is ultimately the subject of a showcase trial and hanged after eleventh hour pleas for clemency to Governor General Sir Bertram Tibbetts are rejected.

This is hurricane season [Mori Mungu] and several hurricanes hit the island, causing widespread destruction. Meanwhile the Prime Minister, Desmond Colgate, is changing the face of the new nation by replacing the horrific shanty towns with multiple unit dwellings, while dueling constantly with Fidel Castro's Cuba. After Cuban air raids on the Settlement of Mantilla, he goes before a joint session of Parliament and declares war, a war in which he scores an upset victory due to obvious American assistance.
