Notes
An "Index of proper names and subjects to Chaucer's Canterbury tales ... by Prof. Hiram Corson" was published by the society in 1911 as "First series, LXXII, Chaucer's Canterbury tales. Part IX." Announced originally as pt. IX of their Six-text edition, it forms more properly pt. IX of the Ellesmere ms. edition, being confined to that ms. and issued in that size.
