In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan clarifies certain wordings in his previous letter. He then discusses the ́Reporteŕ having only few subscribers, and speculates for the reason that the religious part of the antislavery community is not as enthusiastic about the new society as he expects it to be. He also discusses his belief in the expediency of a 3rd party.
