The last novel written by Dumas. Published as a newspaper serial in Le Moniteur in 1869, the year before the wirter's death, but not republished in book form till now. Set in the time of the Consulate and Empire, the story completes the trilogy begun in Les Blancs et les Bleus and Les Compagnons de Jehu. Although incomplete the story is none the less susbtantial.
