George Jeffrey Tillotson writes to Amos A. Phelps acknowledging the receipt of his last letter and updating Phelp's on the interest he owes to him. Tillotson also discusses the petition of the Merchant's Bank to the legislature for additional capital and "the abundance of unemployed capital in t[he] cities," asking Phelps to inquire about the sale of new shares for him. He also gives Phelps instructions for purchasing him shares. Before closing the letter, a new paragraph is dated "Mar.[ch] 15th" where Tillotson provides additional investment instructions to Phelps.
