The livery companies are corporate bodies based in the City of London, almost all of which are known as the "Worshipful Company of..." their relevant trade or profession. The oldest livery companies originally developed as guilds and were responsible for the regulation of their trades.

There are two royal duchies in England, the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall which provide an income for the monarch and for the Duke of Cornwall respectively.
